Big Bear Lake located in the San Bernardino Mountains, is a beautiful gem. Just a short drive away, I felt the need to get out and explore this beauty one early Sunday morning. Driving up the mountain, you can’t help but become mesmerized by the breathtaking views of the tree-lined mountains, as far as you can see. The windy roads that lead you to Big Bear Lake, has you driving up to 6752′.
This particular morning was absolutely perfect. It was early-ish, around 8:45 am by the time I made it to my point of destination, which was Alpine Pedal Path. A 5.1 mile paved trail for walking, biking and skating, already had lots of people out enjoying the beautiful morning with me.
The blue sparkling water of the lake was unbelievably beautiful. The sun was shimmering off of the waves being made by the people out enjoying the water on their boats and jet skis. I walked along the paved path, and found various other pathways down to the water. I quietly walked along the shore for a bit, and just took in as much of nature as I could.
I found a nice spot to just sit and get lost in my thoughts, as the small waves from the lake continuously came towards me. Fluorescent green algae floating at the shore, against the dark blue shimmering water looked amazing. Though I’m assuming that it probably isn’t the healthiest thing for the lake.
I’m looking forward to the day, when I get to go back and explore more of the gorgeous trails out there.
